In our video game design courses, we aim to turn students into digital creators, channeling their passion for gaming into a powerful source of creativity and innovation. Whether it’s coding or level design, your child’s favorite pastime can evolve into a platform for boundless imagination. Our courses offer a range of industry-standard software tools to help them master each stage of game development—from brainstorming and design to coding, testing, and debugging. Along the way, they’ll cultivate essential skills like creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, logic, patience, and persistence.

Camp Themes: 

Advanced Minecraft Creation Camp: 

This camp teaches students how to turn vanilla Minecraft Java Edition into a powerful game-creation platform. Campers go beyond playing and learn how Minecraft really works by designing custom data packs for original mini-games using advanced commands. The best part is... all the data packs you create go home with you to play on the minecraft you have at home!

Participants explore how resource packs and data packs can change gameplay, visuals, and rules—without using mods. Students learn to customize both client-side and server-side behavior, create command-based systems, and bring their own game ideas to life. By the end of camp, students will be able to take their worlds, data packs, and resource packs home and run them on their own systems, so they can continue expanding their creations after camp ends.

Along the way, campers build skills in logic, systems design, and problem-solving, all inside Minecraft. This camp is ideal for kids who love Minecraft and are ready to level up from playing to creating and engineering their own experiences.

What You’ll Learn

• Customize Textures and Model Design: Create custom game elements using Blockbench and Visual Studio Code.
  
  
• Data Packs & Game Functionality: Learn how to create custom use data packs to add logic and behavior to your creations, including custom items, abilities, events through Minecraft’s command language. Take your finished datapack home and continue developing and playing after camp!
  
  
• Mini-Game Design: Build complete mini-game experiences, including:
  • Custom-designed equipment or tools tailored to each activity
  • Unique gameplay mechanics that encourage interaction, competition, and creative challenges
  • Learning to use Python and Visual Studio Code, alongside other third-party tools, to enhance your existing vanilla Minecraft experience

• Systems Thinking & Problem Solving: Learn how commands, functions, and game systems work together to create polished, replayable Minecraft experiences.
