Treating Complex Trauma & Dissociative Disorders with Ego State Therapy
This two-day course will provide a brief review of ego state therapy including essential core principles to guide your work with trauma and dissociative disorders. These principles should guide all therapeutic practice but will be especially helpful in assisting with your most challenging clients. Therapeutic applications across the phases of trauma treatment will be addressed including applications that target specific symptoms such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, intrusive thoughts, nightmares, sleep struggles, negative beliefs, developmental repair, and emotional regulation. Lemke’s ego state therapy model for integrated functioning and ‘playing with the space’ will not only provide strategies for accessing resources and skills, but more importantly how to stay connected to those skills during times of stress. All applications are addressed through an ego state therapy approach that incorporates advances in dissociation, neuropsychology, and attachment. Knowledge and training in clinical hypnosis is useful but not necessary to benefit from this exceptional course.
