This class designed to teach STEM, programming, and computer science concepts and skills in a fun & engaging setting using a wide range of programmable electronics and programming software
In this dynamic and innovative class, students embark on an exciting journey into the world of coding and digital skills through the lens of Minecraft Education Edition (Minecraft EDU). Designed to engage learners in both creative and analytical thinking, this course leverages the power of MakeCode for Minecraft alongside the Minecraft EDU curriculum to empower students to become proficient in coding while exploring endless possibilities within the Minecraft universe.
Course Objectives:
Introduction to Coding Fundamentals: Students will begin by gaining a solid understanding of coding concepts such as variables, loops, conditionals, and functions through hands-on activities and guided tutorials within the MakeCode environment.
Exploration of MakeCode for Minecraft: Through interactive lessons and projects, students will learn how to utilize MakeCode to manipulate the Minecraft world, creating structures, automating tasks, and implementing game mechanics using block-based programming.
Integration of Digital Technology: This class emphasizes the integration of digital technology skills beyond coding, including collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and computational thinking, all of which are essential for success in the digital age.
Creative Expression and Design Thinking: Students will unleash their creativity by designing and building their own Minecraft worlds, incorporating coding principles to bring their visions to life while developing skills in design thinking and project management.
Application of Curriculum-Based Content: The Minecraft EDU curriculum provides a framework for incorporating subject-specific content, allowing students to explore concepts from various disciplines such as mathematics, science, history, and language arts in an immersive and engaging environment.
Collaborative Learning and Peer Feedback: Through collaborative projects and group activities, students will learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and constructive feedback as they work together to solve problems and achieve shared goals.
Prerequisites: No prior coding experience or familiarity with Minecraft is required. Openness to exploration, experimentation, and collaboration is essential for success in this class.
