Target Audience

This course is aimed at those who want to prepare for HCIA certification as well

as anyone seeking an introduction to basic concepts in data communication and

practical applications using Huawei equipment.

Prerequisites

Proficiency with Windows operating systems.

Basic knowledge of network technology.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

Describe the hierarchy of an IP network and the functions of the different layers.
Explain the history of data communications (Ethernet and related technologies).
Describe basic principles of network security and explain how firewalls work.
Describe the different layers of a TCP/IP model, its tasks and functions as well as related protocols.
Explain how routers and switches work.
Describe the basic principles and configuration of the VLAN, STP, VRP, staticrouting, RIP, OSPF, PPP and Frame Relay protocols.
Design an IP network including IP subnetworks.
Use basic tools (Ping, Tracert) to perform basic error diagnostics.
Configure VRP-based IP addresses, VLANs, VRRP, static routing, RIP and
OSPF and perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Select appropriate Huawei equipment for a particular layer of an IP network.
