Training schedule overview

CaaS - OCM - FS headless Training 2024-07-16 (DE, remote)

As a hybrid CMS, FirstSpirit supports headless architectures perfectly. Editorial content created in FirstSpirit can be deployed to FirstSpirit CaaS (Content-as-aService) using a target independent format that can be requested via REST API calls. This allows all content to be used dynamically by apps, e-commerce shops, IoT devices, portals, single page applications and websites.

Participants will be taught the requirements, use cases and functionalities of FirstSpirit CaaS, especially how content is deployed from FirstSpirit into CaaS and how to edit, retrieve and use this content in front-end applications or other endpoints.

Our developer workshop offers exercises including hands-on using a FirstSpirit example project and a provided single-page application.

Prerequisites: 

• Advanced JavaScript skills, especially DOM manipulation and REST queries
• Recommended: Developer Training Basic (DTB) or basic understanding of FirstSpirit project structure and template development
• Recommended: Experience with SPA/PWA development and JavaScript frameworks like Angular, Vue.js, React etc.

• FirstSpirit CaaS architecture and use cases
• Requesting content via REST API (incl. filters, pagination, sorting)
• Deployment and usage of content and media objects
• Management of permissions via API keys
• Project configuration - project components and schedules
• Integrating the FirstSpirit navigation structure
• Defining and using Aggregations
• Using GraphQL
• Integration of single-page applications (SPAs) into the preview
• Omnichannel Manager (OCM)

Remark: To be prepared for the course, it might be necessary to install software on your computer before the course. You will receive detailled information at least one week before the course.

Notes 

Language

This course is currently planned to take place in German. 

In order to assess the possibility of changing the course's language to English in case of potential requests from "English only speaking" persons, we request alternative language options as part of the registration process. 

Therefore please be sure to choose the suitable language option during registration - but please note that this option should not be used to request the course in a different language!

Note on the date specification 

In total, the time required for the training is 3 days.  

Technical requirements / preparation    

• During the course, the conference solution MS Teams is used. According to our experience, these solutions offer the best compatibility for the most diverse environments. Nevertheless, we recommend that you clarify whether technical measures such as proxy or firewall activations are necessary.
• A few days before the training, there will be a short appointment with the participants for a technical check to ensure that the training can be carried out smoothly. This check should of course take place on your site in the same environment in which you will be attending the training.
• Each participant should have two displays so that he/she can use his/her own workspace parallel to the trainer's presentation without having to switch between applications.
• We advise against using the integrated microphone of laptops, as experience shows that the audio quality is rather poor. Better is a headset or a separate audio device like "Jabra Speak".
• Some days before the course all participants will receive information about the course and necessary preparations via e-mail - e.g. a link to download the training material and, if necessary, software installation. Therefore, please make sure that you have entered the e-mail addresses of the individual participants correctly.
