The Outer Hebrides are without doubt one of the most beautiful landscapes in Northern Europe. And that's exactly where we start our sailing trip with the POLARIS. We await you at Stornoway Marina. This is centrally located in the small island capital and is ideal for supplies and short shore excursions. From here, our journey will take us either east or west past the islands of Lewis and Harris, where we will get to know the country and its people on numerous stops. The exact route will be planned in consultation with our guests and the weather forecast. Should the weather and schedule permit, a detour to the island of St Kilda - far out in the Atlantic Ocean - is also conceivable. Expected course of the trip:

We sail south from Stornoway on the POLARIS, round the southern tip of the archipelago and then sail north again. During stopovers in the midst of historic landscapes, you will experience the Nordic nature and way of life at first hand. The destination of our journey will then be Stornoway again. From here, you will travel by flight or ferry to the mainland or to Glasgow or Edinburgh, from where you can take the final flight home in comfort. Depending on the weather and the schedule, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey by plane. Total distance: approx. 250 nautical miles.

Services included:

• Stay and accommodation on an ultra-modern and exclusively equipped expedition yacht from GARCIA. A ship in a class of its own, which you will not find anywhere else in the world for bookable sailing holidays.

• Provision of a high-quality and regularly maintained automatic lifejacket with integrated AIS transponder.

• Provision of all prescribed and standard safety and rescue equipment. Naturally as good as new and regularly serviced.

• Professional ship management and supervision by experienced professional skipper. All crew members receive a comprehensive on-board and safety briefing.

• Use of all on-board facilities of our expedition yacht POLARIS, e.g. central heating, bathrooms, WI-FI, satellite telephone (only for offshore trips), water maker, generator, 220 V on-board power, area guide, nautical charts, etc.

• Not included are Costs for travelling to and from the destination, costs for provisions, drinks, diesel, demurrage, fees incurred and other undertakings. With the exception of travel costs, these expenses are allocated to the on-board fund, to which all guests contribute equally. The main skipper is also catered for from the on-board fund. The catering costs for the co-skipper are covered by HS-Segelreisen GmbH.

Information on arrival and departure:

To travel to Stornoway, use local flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh. The transfer from the two major Scottish cities is completely hassle-free. Your return journey is then also from Stornoway by regional flight to Edinburgh or Glasgow. From here, flights to Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London Heathrow are available. In this respect, we recommend the relevant booking portals Swoodoo and Opodo for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price.
