We set sail from the Hebridean capital of Stornoway and then follow a north-easterly route to the Orkneys and Shetland Islands. That doesn't just sound exciting, it is! Because it's not just the Scottish islands that never cease to amaze. The currents and tides, which are particularly strong here, also make the area very special. We are initially planning various stopovers along the Scottish coast before heading for the Orkney Islands. In addition to traditional marinas and yacht harbours, there is also the option of anchoring here and being very close to nature and the sea. We now point our bow northwards and set course for the Shetlands. Quasi the last piece of land on the way to the far north. Halfway there is the small Faire Isle, where, depending on the weather, we will make a stop to let the Atlantic wind blow around our noses. After days of seclusion, we reach Lerwick, the capital of the Shetlands and also the destination of our journey. Book your berth or cabin now and experience this extraordinary adventure on our exclusively equipped expedition yacht POLARIS.
Expected course of the trip:
We sail with the POLARIS from Stornoway towards the north-east. On numerous stopovers in the midst of historic landscapes, you will experience Scottish nature and way of life at first hand. Highlights of the journey will include the Hebrides, Orkneys and Shetland Islands. With Lerwick, we finally reach a centre of the north. From here you will travel by flight to Glasgow or Edinburgh, from where you can take the final flight home in comfort. Depending on the weather and the timetable, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey by plane. Total distance: approx. 300 nautical miles.
This extraordinary trip is led by our two experienced professional skippers Guido Dwersteg and Tommy Meier.

Information on arrival and departure:
When planning your journey, please note the different departure and destination ports (Stornoway -> Lerwick). To travel to Stornoway, use local flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh. The transfer from the two major Scottish cities is completely hassle-free. Your return journey from Lerwick is then also by regional flight to Edinburgh or Glasgow. From here you can then fly to Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London Heathrow. In this respect, we recommend the relevant booking portals Swoodoo and Opodo for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to find additional allotments or a cheaper price.
