The starting point of this journey is the small west Scottish town of Oban. From here, we head north-west and then wind our way through the wildly rugged waters and bays of Scotland. After stops around the Isle of Skye, we head over to the Hebrides. A rough and impressive area with strong currents, unspoilt landscapes and friendly inhabitants. From Stornoway, where we will stock up on provisions once again, the long non-stop trip to the remote Faroe Islands will follow. Depending on the wind and weather, we will also make one or two stops here before reaching our cruise destination of Tórshavn. Expected course of the trip:

We sail with the POLARIS from Oban towards the north-west. On numerous stopovers in the middle of the historic landscape, you will experience Scottish nature and way of life at first hand. Depending on the wind and weather, the highlights of the journey will be the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles. With Stornoway, we will reach the capital of the Hebrides and an important supply stop before sailing non-stop up to the Faroe Islands. The destination of our journey will be the island capital Tórshavn. From here you can then take a comfortable flight home. Depending on the weather and the schedule, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey under engine power. Total distance: approx. 400 nautical miles.

This extraordinary trip will be led by the two professional sailors Guido Dwersteg and Simon Eder.

Services included:

• Stay and accommodation on an ultra-modern and exclusively equipped expedition yacht from GARCIA. A ship in a class of its own, which you will not find anywhere else in the world for bookable sailing holidays.

• Provision of a high-quality and regularly maintained automatic lifejacket with integrated AIS transponder.

• Provision of all prescribed and standard safety and rescue equipment. Naturally as good as new and regularly serviced.

• Professional ship management and supervision by two experienced professional skippers. All crew members receive a comprehensive on-board and safety briefing.

• Use of all on-board facilities of our expedition yacht POLARIS, e.g. central heating, bathrooms, WI-FI, satellite telephone (only for offshore trips), water maker, generator, 220 V on-board power, area guide, nautical charts, etc.

• Not included are Costs for travelling to and from the destination, costs for provisions, drinks, diesel, demurrage, fees incurred and other undertakings. With the exception of travel costs, these expenses are allocated to the on-board fund, to which all guests contribute equally. The main skipper is also catered for from the on-board fund. The catering costs for the co-skipper are covered by HS-Segelreisen GmbH.

Information on arrival and departure:

Please note the different departure and destination ports (Oban -> Tórshavn) when planning your trip. You can reach Oban quickly and easily by flight to Edinburgh or Glasgow and then by bus or train transfer. Edinburgh (EDI) or Glasgow (GLA) can be reached by direct flight from Frankfurt or Amsterdam. For the return journey, you can then fly from Vagar Airport (FAE) to either Copenhagen, Oslo, Edinburgh or Glasgow, from where you can travel on to Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London Heathrow. In this respect, we recommend the usual booking portals for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price. For flights within Scotland, this is usually the airline Loganair.
