We start our trip to Oban from the Scottish capital Edinburgh in the Firth of Forth. Before we enter the Caledonian Canal at Inverness, we first sail along the Scottish east coast. We then cross the fascinating mountain world of the Scottish Highlands on the partly artificial but also natural waterway. Among other things, we also sail on the legendary Loch Ness. We then reach Oban, a lively and equally beautiful town in the west of Scotland, from where you can start your journey home in comfort and without complications. Expected course of the trip:

We sail with the POLARIS from Edinburgh northwards along the Scottish east coast. At Inverness, we will then turn through a lock into the Caledonian Canal, which will then take us through the Scottish Highlands. On numerous stops in the middle of the historic Highlands, you will experience the Scottish nature and way of life at first hand. Finally, we reach Oban, a metropolis of the west. From here, you will travel by bus or train to Glasgow or Edinburgh, from where you can take a comfortable flight home. Depending on the weather and the timetable, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey under engine power. Total distance: approx. 320 nautical miles.

This extraordinary trip is led by the two professional sailors Guido Dwersteg and Axel Hachenberger.

• Stay and accommodation on an ultra-modern and exclusively equipped expedition yacht from GARCIA. A ship in a class of its own, which you will not find anywhere else in the world for bookable sailing holidays.

• Provision of a high-quality and regularly maintained automatic lifejacket with integrated AIS transponder.

• Provision of all prescribed and standard safety and rescue equipment. Naturally as good as new and regularly serviced.

• Professional ship management and supervision by two experienced professional skippers. All crew members receive a comprehensive on-board and safety briefing.

• Use of all on-board facilities of our expedition yacht POLARIS, e.g. central heating, bathrooms, WI-FI, satellite telephone (only for offshore trips), water maker, generator, 220 V on-board power, area guide, nautical charts, etc.

• Not included are Costs for travelling to and from the destination, costs for provisions, drinks, diesel, demurrage, fees incurred and other undertakings. With the exception of travel costs, these expenses are allocated to the on-board fund, to which all guests contribute equally. The main skipper is also catered for from the on-board fund. The catering costs for the co-skipper are covered by HS-Segelreisen GmbH.

Information on arrival and departure:

When planning your journey, please note the different departure and destination ports (Edinburgh-> Oban). You can reach Edinburgh quickly and easily by flying to Edinburgh International Airport (EDI). For the return journey from Oban, you must first travel by bus or train to Glasgow or Edinburgh, as only island flights are offered from Oban. However, the transfer to the two major Scottish cities is completely hassle-free. From Edinburgh or Glasgow you can then book flights to Frankfurt, Amsterdam or London Heathrow. In this respect, we recommend the usual booking portals for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price.
