1600 nautical miles are on the program! The ideal trip to gain experience in the tidal area and also to collect long-distance miles. This is also an opportunity for all holders of the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore to complete the "Qualifying Passage" for the Yachtmaster Ocean on board our POLARIS. Not only will you be expertly supervised by our skippers, but you will also find all the necessary equipment on board. Our journey will take us from the Icelandic capital Reykjavík on a direct course to the Azores. Our destination will then be the island of Faial with its famous sailing Mecca Horta. This is virtually the standard stop for all Atlantic crossers and home to the famous Cafe Sport, among other things. The Azores are also known as the living room of whales. The chances of encountering sperm whales or blue whales here are therefore good. From Horta, you can then start your journey home or onwards in comfort and without complications. Expected course of the trip:

We will sail south from Reykjavík on the POLARIS. Depending on the wind and weather, we will then need around 11 to 13 days for the approximately 1600 nautical mile crossing. The final destination of our journey is the tranquil town of Horta on the Azores island of Faial. From Horta you can then take a comfortable flight home. Depending on the weather and the schedule, it may be necessary to fly longer sections of the journey. Please also note that this is an offshore transfer cruise, which can also be subject to adverse weather conditions and the associated stresses. Total distance: approx. 1600 nautical miles.

This extraordinary trip will be led by the two professional sailors Nils-Peter Hey and Sebastian Naumann.

Services included:

• Provision of a high-quality and regularly maintained automatic lifejacket with integrated AIS transponder.

• Provision of all prescribed and standard safety and rescue equipment. Naturally as good as new and regularly serviced.

• Professional ship management and supervision by two experienced professional skippers. All crew members receive a comprehensive on-board and safety briefing.

• Use of all on-board facilities of our expedition yacht POLARIS, e.g. central heating, bathrooms, WI-FI, satellite telephone (only for offshore trips), water maker, generator, 220 V on-board power, area guide, nautical charts, etc.

• Not included are Costs for travelling to and from the destination, costs for provisions, drinks, diesel, demurrage, fees incurred and other undertakings. With the exception of travel costs, these expenses are allocated to the on-board fund, to which all guests contribute equally. The main skipper is also catered for from the on-board fund. The catering costs for the co-skipper are covered by HS-Segelreisen GmbH.

Information on arrival and departure:

Please note the different departure and destination ports (Reykjavík -> Horta) when planning your trip. You can reach Reykjavík quickly and easily by flying to the international airport there. For the return journey, you can either fly directly back to Germany from Horta or make a stopover in Lisbon. In this respect, we recommend the usual booking portals for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price.
