Our journey begins in the ‘Paris of the North’. That's what Norwegians call the tranquil yet lively city of Tromsø. In recent decades, numerous expeditions to the Arctic and Spitsbergen have set off from here. Even the famous polar explorer Roald Amundsen embarked on his last voyage from here. So we can expect plenty of maritime atmosphere and living history. We now continue towards Lofoten through the partly open but also narrow inland waterways and fjords of northern Norway. The famous mountain range is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and oldest landscapes on our planet. Rugged mountains, deep fjords, unspoilt nature and, last but not least, fascinating wildlife are just some of the highlights that await you on this journey. And because we will already have darker nights in September, the chances of seeing the world-famous Aurora Borealis are not bad. Last but not least, you will not be experiencing this adventure on just any ship, but on our exclusively equipped expedition yacht POLARIS. An experience you will cherish for a long time to come.
Expected course of the trip:
We sail south on the POLARIS from Tromsø along the rugged fjord landscapes of northern Norway. During numerous stops in the midst of the fascinatingly beautiful landscape, you will experience Nordic nature and way of life up close. With the imposing Lofoten wall always in view, we finally reach Bodø, the centre of the Arctic Circle. From here, you can comfortably continue your journey home or onwards by plane or ferry. Depending on the weather and schedule, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey by motor. Total distance: approx. 260 nautical miles.
This extraordinary trip is led by one of our experienced professional skippers.

Information on arrival and departure:
When planning your trip, please note the different departure and arrival airports (Tromsø -> Bodø). You can reach Tromsø quickly and easily by flying via Oslo. Oslo (OSL) itself can be reached by direct flight from Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam and Brussels. The return journey from Bodø also involves a stopover in Oslo. In this respect, we recommend the usual booking portals for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price. You can also find an overview of all Norwegian airports, including the connections available from there, at Avinor.
