Just before the Russian border and way up in the north of Europe lies the small town of Kirkenes. This is where our trip through the North Sea and past the legendary North Cape starts. We'll first head east through the partly open sea areas but also narrow channels and fjords of northern Norway. We'll make various stops in mostly smaller harbours or spend the night anchored in the great outdoors. In Honningsvag, we will moor for two days to visit the North Cape by land. After 12 days, we finally reach Hammerfest, which claims to be the northernmost town in the world. It is a lively centre north of the Arctic Circle that is well worth seeing. From here, you will then begin your journey home by plane via Oslo or Tromsø. Expected course of the trip:

We sail with the POLARIS from Kirkenes through the open Arctic Ocean and through the winding waterways and fjords of northern Norway towards the North Cape. On numerous stops amidst the fascinatingly beautiful landscape of Norway, you will experience Nordic nature and way of life up close. With Hammerfest, we finally reach a centre of the north and the northernmost city in the world. From here, you will travel comfortably by plane via Oslo or Tromsø back to the UK. Depending on the weather and schedule, it may be necessary to cover longer sections of the journey by motor. Total distance: approx. 250 nautical miles.

• Provision of a high-quality and regularly maintained automatic lifejacket with integrated AIS transponder.

• Provision of all prescribed and standard safety and rescue equipment. Naturally as good as new and regularly serviced.

• Professional ship management and supervision by experienced professional skipper. All crew members receive a comprehensive on-board and safety briefing.

• Use of all on-board facilities of our expedition yacht POLARIS, e.g. central heating, bathrooms, WI-FI, satellite telephone (only for offshore trips), water maker, generator, 220 V on-board power, area guide, nautical charts, etc.

• Not included are Costs for travelling to and from the destination, costs for provisions, drinks, diesel, demurrage, fees incurred and other undertakings. With the exception of travel costs, these expenses are allocated to the on-board fund, to which all guests contribute equally. The main skipper is also catered for from the on-board fund. The catering costs for the co-skipper are covered by HS-Segelreisen GmbH.

Information on arrival and departure:

When planning your trip, please note the different departure and arrival ports (Kirkenes -> Hammerfest). You can reach Kirkenes quickly and easily by flying via Oslo. Oslo (OSL) itself can be reached by direct flight from Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam and Brussels. The return journey from Hammerfest also involves a stopover in Oslo or Tromsø. In this respect, we recommend the usual booking portals for your research. Sometimes it also makes sense to search for flights directly on the websites of the relevant airlines to obtain additional allotments or a cheaper price.
