Step into the shoes of a professional video game developer

This program is for children age 12+ (or younger with exceptional proficiency and experience) that have a solid foundation and strong interest in creating their own game scripts.

Our goal in this course is to empower students to become creators of digital media rather than just consumers. From programming to editing, your kid's favorite hobby could become an awesome outlet for his or her imagination.

In this introductory course on the industry-leading Unity 3D gaming engine, students will learn the basics of level design and C# programming to create mini-games using Unity domain.

Please note that this class requires that students bring along a high performance gaming laptop. A limited number of gaming laptops are available to borrow on a first come first serve basis. Email info@techlabs.ch to reserve one for use in the course if you do not have your own.

The main project will be a step-by-step development process as they build an entire 3D racing simulator video game. Participants will learn how to design roads and landscapes and how to use scripts to define player controls. Working with Unity's Physics system, they will be taught how to use components like Wheel Colliders and Rigidbodies to simulate vehicle movement and interaction with the environment.

After introductory lessons, students can search for and incorporate web assets to modify the game with unique car, obstacle, Google maps, and more.
